The Shield

Home / The Shield

  • In the upper left of the shield, is the Fleur de Lis, or Flower of the Lilly.  The fleur de lis is located above every entry way of St. Francis of Assisi Church, one of our sponsoring parishes.
  • It is also a reference to the French heritage of our patron St. Vincent de Paul.
  • In the upper right is the very recognizable dome of our other sponsoring parish, St. Vincent de Paul Church.
  • In the lower left, is the letter M surmounted by a cross with a bar at its base.  This symbol represents the Miraculous Medal.
  • In the Lower right is the symbol representing both the Vincentians and Daughters of Charity who are dedicated to education in Germantown.
  • Circling the shield are the twelve stars from the Miraculous Medal, which in Revelations, 12:1 states “a great sign appeared in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of 12 stars.”
  • The Shield, as well as the our School Logo, was designed by Mr. Brian Hecker, a Friend of The DePaul Catholic School.
